Spray on solar panels coming soon
Ok, maybe not soon. But researchers at the University of Texas have developed a spray-on photovoltaic film that could replace conventional solar panel technology in the near future. The microscopic nano-cells are 10,000 times thinner than a human hair and convert 1% of the sun’s light into electricity. This is an incredibly small amount, but is a strikingly similar challenge that was faced by the creators of the first solar panels.

I have tried my hand at making small solar panels, It’s relatively easy to do but the cells are hard to find at a reasonable cost. For a 4′x4′ panel you can spend a pretty penny for decent cells. So I am interested in seeing what comes of this spray on technology. Hopefully it will happen in the near future.
All the Best
