Google Moves into the Solar Panel Business
Just when we thought Google was diversified as much as they could be, they break into another market. As is normal for Google, they did it with a BANG!
Last year, Google announced they were developing solar technology that would make solar energy cheaper than coal. Don’t even get me started on the “cleanliness” and cost effectiveness of coal… Getting back to the point, Google announced they have a product almost ready for market – within a shockingly short, 4 month timeline.
This new product is not a solar panel, but rather technology for developing solar thermal power plants, some of the most promising methods of harnessing the sun’s energy. Solar Thermal power plants use mirrors to redirect the sun’s energy to superheat a catalyst, sometimes salt, sometimes another heat sync which in turn spins a turbine and generates electricity.
So why would Google jump into the renewable energy market? It’s tough to say, but the big G doesn’t tend to make decisions without motive. They’re smart, calculating, and often ahead of the curve. If they’re investing, you may want to consider allocating some of your own investments in this direction.
